o * What surprised you the most? Why was it surprising?
o * Did you learn anything? If so, what?
o * As you think about it now, does this change the way you think about school, learning or the purpose of getting an education? Is there anything you want to do differently related to school this year?
o * What Shift is happening?

BTW, the song used in the video is "Right Here, Right Now" by Fat boy Slim.

  1. I was really surprised that 25% of India's students were honor students, which is more than all of the students in the USA, because I assumed that the USA would have better education than India. I learned about how much internet and texting has changed over the years because I never realized how many people use the internet and texting for communication. This doesn't really change the way that I think about school or the purpose of education. I think that the world is really shifting because of all the new technology that keeps coming out, and because of how many people in the world use the technology.

  2. The thing that surprised me the most was the fact that a foreign country speaking a drastically different language will soon have more english speaking people than we do. I learned that new jobs are constantly appearing every year. It doesn't really change my thinking on school or education. The main shift I see is in regards to how many more people are accessing new technology each year.

  3. For me, i was really surprised to learn that was we consider to be 'updated education' would be out dated and replaced with new education in three years prior to learning the material. Also that 1 out of 8 married couples had meet online. technology has now changed the way people live their lives. The world is changing incredibly fast now that most of the worlds population has the access to information that they might not other wise have. like the clip on India's honor student's. Considering that the US is a highly populated country, and that we would have many students attending school k-12, and so on to college. I would have thought that through those numbers, the US would have more honor students. As where India is about 1/3 the size of the US, and has more honor students. For me that was a really huge shock.

  4. Also there are 1 billion computers in the US that shows how dependent the world is on technology. I find it interesting that we are preparing kids for jobs that havent even been created yet that shows me that we are the future of the world.I cant beleive that china will be the number one english speaking country.

  5. I was surprised by the fact that we are learning ideas that we can't put into use quite yet because there aren't jobs that we can't put our knowledge to use. This was surprising because I had never really thought of it that way. I just assumed that we were learning about things because our teachers thought they would be interesting to learn.
The shift that is happening is more and more things are becoming only available through the internet and we are learning more ways to communicate with each other.
I learned that newer and newer things take less time to become popular than things that have been around for decades.

  6. I was surprised that China will have the most english speaking population in the world because it is not the native language and also shows how the world can adapt to changes fast. I learned that even though we think of India as a poor country, they have a amazing learning system with more honor students than the US has students. Other countries are building their education systems and seem too be more like the US. The shift that is happening is that technology is taking over and information can travel across the world in seconds.

  7. The thing that surprised me the most was just how dependent as a society we are on technology. We are meeting people online, doing work online and exchanging information on the internet. We are constantly preparing for technologies that won’t be created for years; just to have the same information be outdated in the next few years.
As a country we need to educate our kids more affectively, so that we can be up to speed with other countries and their education system. However, this would be hard to accomplish because many people just assume that the U.S. is the more advances in education.
We have become so dependent on technology it is altering how we get information, use information, meet people and connect with friends.

  8. I was surprised how other nations seem to be surpassing the U.S in the academic field. China will soon speak our language more then us! I learnt that the internet and other technology’s has changed the way the world learns and takes in information. Computers will soon be as smart as humans. This defiantly changes the way that I look at education. They said in the movie that teachers are preparing us for jobs that don’t even exist yet, so I think that the purpose of education is being prepared educationally for the future. This year, I want to work on math and at the same time be aware of the world and technology. Because both are good advantages to learning. The shift is that other countries are starting to surpass the U.S in education and technology.

  9. One thing that really struck me is that China will soon become the #1 english speaking country in the world. Many of the facts like this one were surprising. Also I learned that 1 out of 8 couples in the U.S met online. This just comes to show that technology has changed our lives tremendously. I don't know if this changes the way I think about school, but I wonder if I could better use technology to enhance my learning!

  10. It was surprising was that China will soon be the number one English
speaking country in the world. It was so surprising because it made me
think how much bigger China is than the United States, and even though
English is not there primary language they still have more people speaking
it than the US. I learned every thing this video showed me I have never
seen any of those facts before in my life. This does change how I think
school and an education are important. I think that this changes the way i
looked at education before, it does this in that it shows how knowledge is
always advancing and how you have change and advance with it. The shift
happening is the human and technology get closer and closer together.

  11. I was really surprised how quickly technology has been developed and let us interact with people faster. It made me think how quickly people with be able to communicate in a couple years. I wonder if that will change the way people interact face to face. Maybe people will feel more comfortable communicating with others online then with actual people. I was a little bit confused about the part of the movie where they were talking about how teachers were preparing us for jobs that haven’t been invented yet. Does that mean that people are going to come out with newer technology that then makes more jobs for people, and that their jobs would be using the technology? This video was very eye opening and it made me think how quickly our world is developing and changing

The thing that surprised me most was the amount of Google searches that are made. It made me wonder how you would find that information without the internet. I also thought that if we didn't have the internet then maybe we wouldn't have thought of those questions. It shocks me that I have become so dependent on technology. Even when I am without internet and I think up a question that I don't know the answer to the first thing I say is, "I'll google it." It has made us lazier.

  14. The thing most suprising to me was that 1 out of 8 married couples last year met online. This means that the married couples either met on facebook, myspace or some type of internet dating site. These people dont even know each other, they just met online, not face to face, and then they get married. It shows you how facebook, myspace and whatever dating sites are getting more and more popular every day.
