Chapter Three More Symbols

When dwriting your answer on a number line it is important to know a couple of symbols.
A circle that is filled in means that the number is included in the solution.
A circle that is not filled in and just the outline of a circle means that the number is not included in the solution.

  1. Also when graphing your solution you can use brackets[] and parentheses() instead of the open and closed circles because that is how they do it in the book, but you can use either one!

  2. Yeah you use brackets when the intervals are inclusive and you use parentheses when the set is exclusive (meaning that you use brackets for < and > and parentheses for underlined < and>.) BUT remember that whenever you have infinity in the set you use a parentheses on that side.
