Quadratic Formula

-b+/- SQRTb^2-4ac
2a
-There are two solutions because it can either be negative or positive

-Solutions same as roots
-zeros and or x-intercepts

Ex. x^2+5x-14=0
a=1, b=5, c=-14
x=-b-5+/-SQRT5^2-4(1)(-14)
2a

-5 +/- SQRT 25-(-56)
2

= -5 +/- SQRT 81
2
=5+/- 9
2
x=2 and -7 = {2,-7}

  1. Hi, i'm IKE!
    Christizzlers! Just saying, to clarify to the unbelievers, what you have said as '2a' which then was placed haphazardly floating around, is actually divided into the bottom of the entirety of the quadratic equation.HAYO!

    -b+-sqrt(b^2-4ac)
